My designs often include native plants which benefit pollinating insects. A naturalistic feel, taking inspiration from nature helps me shape my garden and planting designs. Creating beautiful, location-fitting, as well as functional designs.
Each garden design is bespoke to the individual situation, it’s not one design to fit all spaces. Time is taken to get to understand the site and requirements for each project.
All our gardens are managed spaces which require a degree of planning. So when it comes to choosing the right plants for a colourful new border a planting design would be just the thing. Which plants would work best for the site, size and number required, colours, texture and shape, as well as successful planting combinations.
The shape, texture and colour of the whole plant combined helps with the composition.
Fresh ideas to improve your garden space, border creations, improving flow through the garden and plant improvements

Andy has been designing and creating gardens since the early 2000s. Mainly in the UK, as well as creating gardens in Hawaii, Florida, Brazil and Australia. He has a BSc(Hons) in Landscape Management from the University of Reading.
In 2008 he worked alongside Tom and Zaia Kendall at their farm in Queensland, Australia learning practical permaculture. On return from his travels and inspired by Heather Flores’ book, Food Not Lawns, Andy worked with Grofun running workshops for schools and community groups in inner Bristol. He studied with Sarah Pugh and Shift Bristol in Permaculture Design and in 2012 he set up Bristol Organic Gardening, a garden service with a chemical-free ethos at its core.
Inspired by his studies in garden and planting design with Caroline Tatham at the Cotswold Gardening School and with award winning designer, David Stevens FSGD, in 2018, Andy designed and created a show garden at the RHS Malvern Show. The garden won a RHS Silver-Gilt medal and People's Choice award and was featured on the BBC Gardener’s World, presented by Adam Frost. The garden featured artwork by Bristol based artist and printmaker, Steph Renshaw.
Andy continues to work on a variety of garden projects and is currently working on the management of a large garden in South Gloucestershire, advising on a woodland garden in Snowdonia and has recently worked on various planting designs in Bristol and Oxford.
